Family vacation to Gulf Shores

This past weekend my family and I (and of course my best friend Miranda who is practically family anyways…plus we needed a photographer for the family photos :) ) went to Gulf Shores for a final summer trip “hoorah.” We had such a fantastic time, and spending time with my wonderful family always reminds me how lucky I am to have them. The condo we stayed out was AMAZING…by far the nicest place I have ever stayed and probably ever will stay. The only bad thing about the weekend was that it rained a good bit of the time, but luckily we still had a great time shopping and even managed to squeeze in a family photo shoot when it wasn’t raining. Here are some of pics from our weekend.

The inside of the condo:

I loved the decorations…”beachy” but not too cheesy:

The balcony was HUGE and even had a jacuzzi on it!

The place had like 3 pools and a lazy river:

The lazy river at night:

Seriously….#10??? Who violated that rule to the point that they had to put it up on a sign?

Something about this picture of my mom and my uncle Clint makes me smile:

Like I said earlier, Miranda came along to take family photos of us since we haven’t had big family pictures since like…ever.

I love this photo…its so typical of our family…just laughing and having a good time:

And of course I love this picture because I just love jumping shots…I think I may be obsessed with them.

We also took individual family shots as well. Here’s me with my beautiful family.

Oh, and I also love feet shot…another obsession of mine. Maybe I should branch out more…

After being in photos, I was ready to get on the other side of camera and help take photos with Miranda. Here’s my uncle Clint, aunt Tonya, and my cousin Quint:

What’s going on in our lives…

So we’ve been really busy lately (which is a good thing, we’re definitely not complaining about that!) and we haven’t been able post about us in a while. And while we know that this is our business photography blog first and personal blog second, its fun to just ramble about our personal lives every once in a while :). So here I go…

First: I GRADUATED!!!! img_9995

It has been a long and difficult road navigating through nursing school and still balancing our photography business, but I am happy to say that I’ve reached the finish line (for this race anyways)! It’s always bitter-sweet ending a chapter in one’s life, and even though the “sweetness” is outweighing the “bitterness” right now, I am definitely going to miss my group of nursing school friends. We’ve been through a lot together and I’ll never forget them. img_9661

My beautiful and incredible family at my pinning ceremony. Mom and Dad, I love y’all so much and thank you for all your love and support. I couldn’t have made it through without y’all! img_9726

And my awesome friends: img_9753

And me with my very best friend Miranda: img_9759

Miranda has truly been a world of help to me throughout nursing school. She’s helped me out studying, helped me make posters for pointless projects, and has been my cheerleader (and my drill sergeant for those times that I didn’t want to study). Thank you so much Miranda. Love ya!

And what’s the fun in accomplishing something without rewarding yourself, right? So I gave myself two presents. First, I finally broke down and got something that I’ve been wanting for a long time. A tattoo. tattoo

This tattoo means a lot to me and I absolutely love it (even though it was way more painful than I was expecting)! Psalms 92:12 states, “But the godly will flourish like palm trees.” And what this verse talks about is how palm trees grow during storms and hurricanes. And as Christians, when a storm comes in your life, you should grow through it and not break. Plus, anyone who knows me knows that I am a bonafide beach bum and I love anything related to the tropics. So having palms trees on my foot with a verse from the Bible that relates to them was just perfect for me!

And for my second gift to me, a cruise!!!! carnival-ecstasy-cruise-ship_small

Myself, Miranda, my mom, and my two grandmothers are going on a 7 day cruise to the Bahamas from May 30-June 6. This cruise was actually originally scheduled to be a 4 day cruise to Cozumel, but because of the swine flu, it was changed to a week long cruise to the Bahamas. Yay :)! I CANNOT WAIT!!!

And in other news, Miranda and I are absolutely pumped that Kris Allen won American Idol this week!!!! I loooooooooooove me some Kris Allen. He is just so beautiful and perfect :). Here are some links to our favorites performances from him:

And, see, didn’t I tell you he was beautiful! Plus, anyone who sings songs from indie Irish movies (Falling Slowly is from the movie “Once”) and makes me like a song by Kanye West gets my vote.

Ok, well, I think that’s about all for now. I’ve rambled on enough. Have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend!

My surprise birthday

Ok, so I’m sure I say this every year; but seriously, this has been the best birthday ever! I am so blessed with such wonderful friends and family. My birthday celebration actually started Thursday night while I was in Shreveport with my nursing school friends for a research conference. We went and got sushi and just had a great time. Then, on Friday, my friend Kate drove me home (and by the way, she was driving excruciatingly slow to delay time and it was making me crazy at that moment!), and I walked into my house thinking I was fixing to get ready to go eat at Austin’s Bistro with my friends that night. And lo and behold, there were all my friends waiting for me and a surprise birthday party for me. I was SHOCKED! Seriously, I was absolutely floored by all the time and energy put into this party to make it so unbelievable awesome. Miranda, thank you so much. It was amazing and I had such a great birthday because of it! You’re da best :)!

Me acting surprised (they couldn’t get a pic of me when I initially walked in), and check out the awesome banner than Emery made:

Guess Who’s 25….

I just wanted to take a minute and wish Heather a very Happy 25th Birthday!!!! Yep… she’s getting old. :) Heather is not only a wonderful business partner, but the absolute greatest best friend!

Heres a quick picture of the birthday girl that was snapped tonight:

heather_blog3

Heather…I hope you had a great birthday! You deserve it!!

—Miranda—-

she’s at it again!

i just want to start by saying that you know you’re in the south when you dress your dog up for mardi gras and take them to a pet parade. there’s just not much to say!! yep that’s right…heather did it again. heather decided to take abby to the pet parade, and believe me when i say that it would just be wrong for abby to go to the parade without a costume. (at least that is what is heather said.)
now… i do have to admit (b/c heather is making me) that i am the costume designer and preparer and i will take full responsibility for that! but the costume was not my idea nor did i spend any of my hard earned money on a pet costume. :)
now, with all that said…doesn’t abby just look so happy in her yellow and purple toule skirt!!!

abby

and here is a picture of all of us at the pet parade. aren’t we all so cute?? this has become one of my new favorite shots of us:
me_heather1

happy mardi gras everyone!! :) i sure wish i had some new orleans king cake because the walmart king cake just didn’t cut it!

Laissez les bon temps rouler!

I’m so Thankful!

I’ve always loved Thanksgiving and have always felt that I am a very blessed person, but this past year God has given me so much more to be thankful for. Those of you that read our blog and know me personally, know that two months ago my mom had a stroke. As with most, it took us all completely by shock due to that fact that my mom is fairly young. My mom was out of the hospital in less than a week and over the last two months has recovered so well giving me so much to be thankful for! I have a great family, great friends, and a wonderful life!!!

Here is a picture of my mom with my youngest brother after one of his football games. This was a month after her stroke and you can’t even tell can you?? :)
img_6305

By the way..Heather said that it would silly to post two Thanksgiving posts so she wants me to tell everyone that she is blessed to and is thankful for all her wonderful friends and family!

Couldn’t resist

I just couldn’t resist posting this “sneak peek” pic from a recent bridal shoot that we had. We’ll post the rest of the beautiful pictures after the wedding next month.

Oh, and in case anyone has been living under a rock the past few days, we just had a nasty little hurricane come through our state. Since we live in the more north-eastern part of Louisiana, we didn’t get a direct hit by Gustav, but we did get some torrential rain, some trees down, and lots and lots of flooding in our area (luckily not our house). As a matter of fact, school has been cancelled for the week due to flooding and power outages. But I’m just so thankful that it wasn’t as bad as they were predicting. Our prayers go out to those families who were more severely impacted by the hurricane. God bless…
