Janna’s bridal pictures

*For those of you taking count, this is our THIRD blog post in a single week! We deserve a cookie… *

We just recently shot Janna’s and Kevin’s wedding, and we are so excited to now be able to share her bridal pictures that we took back in February. Janna wanted for her bridal pictures to be different and unique and sophisticated…and, well, we really struggled initially on where we should take them to achieve this look. But then Janna helped us discover the most awesome location for bridal pictures…The Rising Sun in Monroe. This was the first time we’ve ever shot here, but it certainly wasn’t the last. We’ve been back many times since then because we absolutely love the look of this place. Its so incredibly cool, and we thank Janna for discovering it for us. And Janna was the perfect bride to experiment at this new location with. She is beautiful, fun, and knows how to WORK IT for the camera! Seriously, taking her bridal pictures that day was so easy that a trained monkey with a camera could have done a good job!

See, isn’t she a gorgeous bride! And if possible, I think she looked even more fabulous and radiant on her wedding day (those pics coming soon!).

I couldn’t decide if I liked this one better in color or in black and white, so since this is my blog and I can do what I want, I’m posting both of them. So HA :) !

We also went to The Biedenharn Museum and Gardens for a few outside portraits as well. We were a little worried initially about taking outside pictures because it snowed a couple days before the shoot. That’s right, in Louisiana we had SNOW! And not just a few snow flurries, but a couple inches worth of snow. Since we NEVER have snow down here in the south, even the smallest amount sends our area into a state of natural emergency. School close, roads close, and people stock up on bottled water and canned foods like its the eve of the year 2000 again. Luckily, everything went smoothly and most of the snow had already melted. You can still see a few patches of snow in these pictures and I think it makes the pictures look even more magical :) .

As much as I loved taking pictures at The Rising Sun, you still can’t beat the beautiful sunlight that we had at Biedenharn:

I love this last picture because it truly shows Janna’s personality. She is so happy and is ALWAYS smiling!

Thanks Janna and Kevin and we hope y’all had a great time in St. Lucia!!!

Kim and Patrick’s Wedding

After shooting Kim and Patrick’s engagement pictures back in the fall in New Orleans, we were really looking forward to their wedding! We met them through our former amazing youth pastors and we’re really glad that we did! It was like visiting with friends after only meeting them one other time before! While down south for there wedding, we also got to visit with Pastor Mo and Ms. Shontel which is always a plus!
Kim and Patrick are such a fun loving couple and you can’t but help but love being around them! We had a great time with the two of them! But instead of going on and on, I know that they are waiting to see their pictures so I will just sum them up in one word (AWESOME) and get straight to the pictures! :)

The awesome groom’s cake:

I didn’t notice this at first, but the score on the cake is 37-10…which is the date of their wedding: 3/7/10! They’re so clever :) .

patrick-and-kim-727

Another clever idea they had was instead of the typical “money dance,” they had the bride “kidnapped” and a ransom noted left asking for money for the couple. So fun!

Stephanie and Bubba are also friends that we have met through Pastor Mo and Shontel. They are alot of fun and are coming to Monroe to visit in May! Can’t wait! I think we will use this picture for some kind of blackmail! :)

Kim and Patrick, thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your wedding day! We had so much fun with the two of you! Can’t wait to see you both again! :)

Ana and Chris’s engagement pics

We are so incredibly blessed with such awesome clients…because, seriously, Ana and Chris are AWESOME!! Ana was referred to us by Janna and Kevin, so we knew immediately that we would like her and Chris. And they were just as fun and easy to photograph as we had hoped for! And it always makes our job easy when the couple is as love with eachother as these two are :) .

Ana and Chris, we had such a fun time with y’all and we are so excited about y’alls upcoming wedding!!! And thank you Ana for your patience in us getting these pictures done. We seriously wanted to have them done sooner, but we have just been crazy busy this spring. Y’all rock!

Such a good looking couple!

Emery and Trey’s engagement pics

I still vividly remember the first time I ever became friends with Emery. We were both in 10th grade in the year 2000, and because we were (well…because we ARE) both dorks, we were at the regional science fair at the Monroe Civic Center. Since our booths were near each other, we hung out and talked while waiting to be judged…and our personalities just immediately clicked. During our lunch break at the mall that day, my always graceful and poignant self dropped food all over my shirt. And not just any food, but an Italian muffuletta filled with bright red marinara sauces. I, of course, panicked because OH NO THE JUDGES WILL BE DISTRACTED BY THE BRIGHT RED SAUCE ON MY SHIRT AND I WON’T PLACE AND WON’T GET TO GO TO STATE SCIENCE FAIR (oh the drama…)!!!!!! Luckily, Emery was there to calm me down and save the day. She took me to New York and Co. and picked me out a pink (yes, a pink) dress shirt on clearance for like $4… *whew*…disaster averted (well, not completely averted because I DID buy a pink shirt that day). From that day on, we’ve been very close friends. Over the past 10 years, we’ve had so much fun laughing at “Mystery Science Theater 3000″ in Ms. Storm’s physics class, going on our senior cruise, eating lunch on the LaTech campus in between classes, scrapbooking, beach trips and various other road trips, watching every episode of the tv show “Friends”, countless movie outings, craft nights, cooking nights, long talks about the complexity and geniusness of the Harry Potter series, weekends spent at her parents’ house on the lake, and I could go on and on and on.

Since she has been one of my closest friends for a decade, its sort of bittersweet to see her get married and eventually move away. Of course I’m thrilled that she found Trey and that they are getting married…because, seriously, they are absolutely PERFECT for each other. However, I am still going to miss my friend. But I know that regardless of where they go and what happens, I know we’ll always be great friends (and, yes, I am well aware that just sounded like a cliched Hallmark greeting card, but whatever…). So, Emery, I know we’re both too emotionally constipated to “express our feelings” and stuff like that, but I just want to say that I love ya and that I’m so blessed to have you as a friend.

Ok, with all that being said, on to their engagement pics. Emery is so incredibly creative and talented that it sort of made me nervous about taking their pics. She kept asking me if I knew of any really cool secret location to take pictures, but I knew of none. But one day I was driving to my grandparent’s house and I found it….THE location. So I called Emery and asked if her and Trey could take pictures that very week since I was afraid the flowers would be dead soon. She made an emergency shopping run to pick out the perfect outfit and we met two days later to take pictures. And I’m so glad that we did, but I loved loved loved this location for them. It was just so perfect.

Emery and Trey have a special mutual affection for pie. So, of course she made a yummy apple pie for the shoot. And we all ate it at the end of the shoot while waiting for my dad to come tow us out of the ditch we got stuck in. Good times, good times…
